Meeting with AMICAL on the charters for the ethical use of AI in higher education
In a meeting organized by the AMICAL consortium, members of the Campus-level AI Initiatives Interest Group, led by Professor Rukhsana Zia, discussed our Chair’s draft charter for the ethical use of AI in higher education. About 20 participants representing nine different institutions from countries including Pakistan, France, Lebanon, Egypt, Greece, Iraq, Kuwait, and Austria, contributed to the localization analysis.
The discussion focused on each one of the five principles and how best “localize” their implementation through specific goals that are organic for each institution. The questions of the appropriate level of details for the principles and how universities’ governance processes will play their role in defining and implementing institutional level goals were also discussed.
